Join the executive director of the New York Coalition for Transportation Safety for an eye-opening workshop about NYS traffic/pedestrian safety laws meant to protect you on LI’s roadways. Do you know why you should walk facing traffic? Learn more about this, other laws, and new technologies being put in place to keep you safe at the “Staying Safe on Our Streets” virtual workshop. Brought to you by the New York Coalition for Transportation Safety in partnership with the Long Island Health Collaborative and Walk Safe LI education campaign.
Long Island is one of the most dangerous regions in the state for pedestrian and vehicle injuries and fatalities. Cindy Brown, recognized leader in pedestrian safety will discuss pedestrian safety laws that walkers, cyclists and motorists need to know. Highlights include: How and why Daylight Savings affects pedestrian safety, HAWK pedestrian safety signal being installed in parts of Nassau and Suffolk, the dangers of distracted walking, and Misconceptions about visibility.
